It will cavitate. It will spin at to high of a rpm. Any you dropped your oatmeal on the ground.

I'd think a 4cyl trimmer would be best, lower RPM & higher torque. My guess is he's not going for speed records, so it wouldn't be run a full RPM. Those things idle around 1200rpm, the speed the prop was designed for, so I don't think 3-4k will cavitate too bad. I think the biggest issue will be burning the clutch if no weights are added.

I'm interested to see how it goes, but yea, the rom is way too high to be properly efficient. It will still move though.

well see tomorrow, I have been thinking about putting a cone behind and possibly in front of the prop and smoothing things out.  if it works at all its a hell of a lot cheaper than an outboard

So at what point is noise a factor in fishing? Is that 2 stroke wound out gonna be loude enough to scrae the fish away? At any rate its way less than a electric outboard.

Good point.  I know the load is what makes your mom go down.

So did we get trolled or is it a trolling motor?
it's not supposed to be fast, it's for trolling.
you can pick up a trolling motor on CL for about the same it would cost to make what you did.
except you probably had the shitty wacker laying in your back yard.

this thing needs a reduction gear box, the motor doesnt have the torque to spin it direct drive. im just gonna buy a dam outboard.

Just keep chopping a 1/2" off the blade tips til it works. If it spins at 3x the speed, it only needs 1/3 the prop.

That idea would work better if you could put 2 blades in there clocked 90° apart. Smaller diameter and high rpm needs more blades.

More blades in the water requires more torque to move them. They "bite" more, and also create more drag.

If all you did was make those 2 tiny blades smaller it would cavitate and do nothing. 4 smaller blades would be easier to spin than the 2 bigger ones and he might have a chance of forward motion.

90° would be better. 180° would put them in the same place as the others

I did shave down the prop, turned the weed eater wide open and shoved the prop down on the concrete lol, I even went through the trouble of sanding the edges smooth.  still too much drag from the high rpms.  My 2 hp sizuki outboard works much better.  anyone ever put a tuned pipe on a 2 stroke outboard?
