ok. little update.

did i mention it was pushing air into the coolant? cuz it was. replaced the headgasket, fresh surface on the head for good measure. all seems good. had a cam plug leak, but easy fix.

im thinking that when it was hot (when it was pushing air) it was loosing compression and making hard starts? havent noticed an issue. but its pretty lean on starts i think now. still some more fine tuning needed.

also. it is fuckin loud on WOT 3rd gear pulls. 2nd gear just gets a revlimiter. 3rd struggles for traction (even with LSD) and is just loud when the wastegate cracks open... ehh. whatever. its nice when not WOT.

Glad to see it finally boosting!

So, earlier in the thread you were talking about how your mother's van broke the timing belt
Multiple times with out damage. The mercury villager/Nissan quest were the same van, they came with the Vg30e (same as the pathfinder, 300zx and maxima) the VG was an interference engine in every car except for the mercury badged vans. Mercury actually made Nissan alter the engine just for their badged vans.

ok shitty update...cuz well i did this months ago.

bumper was fucked up when i got the car, had tagged a trailer hitch or something. plus it had that fake junk ass moogen lip on it. so i picked up a fresh OEM bumper, and OEM ITR lip...

decided that since someone had buggered up the licence plate holes that it was time to full fill a dream of mine and fill/shave them off.... i dont run front plates, dont care what the cops think.

pic of it all mounted up...

yeah.. whatever i guess. but that shit kinda bothered me....

** REAL UPDATE **

so.... yeah....

heading out to the shop after work, hoping to beat some traffic. flowing little faster than traffic  ;) ;) ::)
car kinda hiccups, maybe a fart, tach starts to bounce around... think maybe its ok, like ignitor or something for a second, then of course my mind shoots to the "fuck me it just broke a timing belt" routine.... i slide across 3-4 lanes of traffic (pretty legit actually) and rail the brakes to get a nice spot on the shoulder... notice it seems to be leaking something... let it do it for a min, give it a push, seems to be coolant?

i give it a couple cranks (i know) and she just zings... no compression at all... FUCK...

make some calls. end up getting a tow home.

Ok when is this ride up forsale?

Since we know you will sell it.  :noel:
time to revisit this i guess.... fuck you... soon as i get it running again.

thinking there might be some changes. return/dyno... sell... buy Nova and/or legit effort to save for house...

At least it looks bad ass

That head have stock valves?
Either way I'd slap a belt on and see if it has compression before I dug in but I'm lazy
Especially if you're selling it

I would do the same. Slap a belt on (after seeing if the water pump will spin) and take it for a spin.

after seeing the coolant, i was thinking water pump failure.... but didnt actually bother to give it a spin.

also it appeared that the water was dripping down the back of the block behind the alternator... so probably water tube o-ring? i dont remember where the bleed hole is for the water pump...

i pulled the plugs and they all look legit. pistons appear to still be there  ::)

stock valves in the head.

i was thinking of putting VTEC head on it... kids love the vTaK y0!. it be crackin... i think i have a used belt hanging around to give it a try i guess...

bleed hole go straight back basically behind the alternator

any marks on the pistons? guess its not really possible to look through the spark plugs and see the whole piston top

wow, fuckme, i just looked at the date on this...

i did do some work, looks like i failed to update... couple issues. one is i have been working on other peoples projects (that i may post later actually), and blah, blah, excuses. but really im lazy and dont give a shit. i knew before i even called the tow truck this car probably wouldnt move till spring (260ft tq at the FRONT wheels during the winter)...anyway.

oh so i didnt mention this...cuz well yeah..

dont use a breaker bar to remove cams LOL.

decided that if i had lots of valve lash there would be bent valves...

so, i think the valves MIGHT be bent when you can remove the rockers with the cams installed.

i pulled the head:

pulled my BC valve springs.... WHAT A BITCH!. way more difficult when there has been valve contact. just pounds the locks into the retainers.

i think i have a couple bent valves...  ::)

thats all for pics... i have been stealing parts off the car for a while. lol. pulled the suspension, cluster, radio, other random shit. plan is still to finish it up so its running, and drive it till it sells... im in no real rush.

oh, i swopped a PR4 head from a buddy, got it cleaned up... just need to swap springs, swap water pump, put head on, new timing belt, etc... i have a new water pump/belt already (months ago lol).

i ever show off my crank pulley tool?

need to do valve adjust, coolant, and something with that battery. that battery was in my CX, but it was barely cranking over the D. so i swapped it out, and its been in there for like 3months. ill be surprised if its got juice to turn on the fuel pump for a second.

I remove the crank bolt with a 900ft-lbs impact that I paid 99$ brand new. Best fucking tool I've ever bought.

Crank bolts and axle nut and a joke to remove now.

There I found the link: https://buytools.ca/eng/1-2-inch-impact-wrench-900-foot-lbs-bw2860-2566.html

No heat and no pain. And you cannot forget your ratchet on the bolt while starting the engine... Ask me how I know...

oh hey. was kinda reading over my old posts... i said it had a water leak. a long while back at this point i thought it was leaking a little coolant, well it was, and tracked it down i thought to a leaky hose (shitty clamp/not tight). well after seeing that little bit of coolant, thinking maybe water pump, or my original thought of water pipe o-ring. well before i threw the head back on i pulled the water pipe...and it came out super easy. was apparent right off the bat that the o-rings where a size too small. fuckin china gasket kit. and/or i just didnt notice when putting it together. i still had new honda o-rings i bought from the first time i thought it was leaking, so all is fixed.

so keep an eye on those o-rings in china kits? Honda used 2 sizes for most the cars over many years.
