Put a 1/2" spacer on the support rod that attaches your fender to your frame. Should push it out enough and still look fine. I put a stack of washers between my frame and the rod so I could have clearance for my wheels.

no one ever told me... i already hit the fender a bunch lol. but ill throw some washers in there too.

I like it better without the caps. With the caps on it looks a bit too faggy with that color.

as much as i want to say to fuck off, im thinking i better achieve the look i want without the caps. but cleaner with them as the lugs are double drilled... i still have more options with the caps, and they arent that hard to pull on and off (kinda a bitch tho). time will tell i guess.

ALIGNMENT:
so i eyeball this fucker straight. on the ground. roll her back and forth, crank the wheel back and forth. etc till i got her good as im going to get by eye. seems fine.
tires rub when turning of any kind. oh well.
im getting this odd whining noise? kinda seems left rear. wonder if its the tire rubbing the fender?

problem is i pulled over (maybe half a block from house) pointed straight. and the tires seem to have pigeon toed and positive cambered some, and the tires are rolling under the wheels towards the inside?? but when i get back to my place, i turned right around and slowly came back, i centered her in the driveway and tires look fine, no positive camber, alignment looks the same as when i left?

i live 25miles from work.

Don't you have a alignment rack at the shop?

He should, He did his DSM and Interga there.  :noel:

never had a DSM. never aligned the blue integra. i got the silver EK aligned at work, and the CRX... most recently i had the Galant done at Firestone. think i had the ITR aligned at work way back in the day.

but i dont work in the shop, so i have to have a RO written to get my car in there, pay book time, and have some Honda trained tech try to align a 50yo car...
at least at work i was quoted for a 2 wheel alignment, dumb bitch at Firestone wanted to charge me 200bucks for a 4 wheel alignment saying they would adjust camber/toe in the rear?!?!  ::)

Make sure the axle isnt trying to slide out of the rear end housing... could be causing the weird issues back there.

people have been written up, others fired...

best deals i have seen on RO;s is straight time. people seem to be getting away with that. pretty fuckin communist around here now...

speaking of... i need to get these drum hubs turned down for the 12" rotors. i think im going to throw those on and hope it moves the wheels in some. get some more clearance and brakes. probably going to swap on drum spindles as my buddy has expressed interest in the 10.5" setup.

so 12" rotors and Camaro dual piston calipers... i have a fuck knows brake master, NO booster... this setup going to be legit?

oh yeah, going to pull the left rear wheel off and bang on the fender lip some more. see if it will stop rubbing.

I bought 2 sets of bolts to hold down the calipers (plus the JY set) and got one bracket down. then I wondered away... I might work on it again. might have to. we will see...

honestly I bought the truck. and that had me distracted for a couple weeks while I installed stereo system and misc shit. the nova really isn't a high priority at the moment... not even really sure what direction I want to go or which one I'm going in. or where I will end up at this point.

really do need to get these brakes on so I can drive her tho.

ok, so its not like i havent been working. i have been cleaning up around the house, the garage a lot, bought a truck and been getting that all daily status. plus im not sure if i have said this but i have gotten the garage enough to where i want it that i actually pulled the Nova inside to her spot. so she is all comfy.  :-*

anyway. the 2month brake swap...

bare drum brake spindle. i got the whole drum brake setup off CL for 40bucks. good thing too, buddy said he was interested in the 10.5" setup. so ill have 2 complete brake setups when done.

turned down DRUM brake hubs. not exacting measurements. but you get the idea. machinist friend did these for me. he did note that the GM casting/machining wasnt very precise lol. so he trued it up off the bearing, or whatever.... so this was homie hookup favor later/FREE

brackets off ebay if i remember right. listed for a Camaro/Chevelle of course. all the same. the hubs are all the same too.... like $75?

Hawk HPS pads of course. think these where $82

some test fitting

OEM junkyard Camaro bolts FAIL... then Ace bolts FAIL... then i got some new Ace baller allen head bolts that worked MINT...then i didnt take a pic  ::)  $15 with washers

proof of work taking place

the old school brakes are 2lbs HEAVIER than the new 12" dual pistons!!!

didnt bother to take a look at this pic before hand, so hopefully you can see that the 98+ Camaro brake hoses are different than the whatever the fuck was on my car.
note they are also shorter.

the internet told me to buy these. so im telling to buy these... i did look, and they are what i need. like $12 for the pair

thats about it for the pics, lots of doubles and shit i may have thought was important to show, but dont remember why i took them... so whatever.

oh, one side is done. torqued/cotter pinned, etc. plan to do the other side tomorrow. hopefully try a driveway alignment again on saturday and go for a drive. see how that turns out...

oh, note to self. need to hammer on left rear fender some more for tire clearance.

ok. I'm still working on getting the Galant going but I have been thinking lots about the Nova. and would like to get some shot handled over the winter.

this is the planned order... could change. suggestions might be considered.

front end... stock front suspension is going in the trash. going to do mustang ii front clip like AJ is doing. but I'll be doing power steering and 12" dual piston camaro brakes.

rear end... leaning towards a ford explorer 8.8 disc brake rear axle. 95-01 I think are the years. they have a trac-loc rebuild able posi unit. seem to work fine in a street non-drag racing application. thinking 3.73 or maybe 3.55 gears. depends on trans I end up with?
also from what I have found on the swap guys are using there original driveshafts. that's a money saver :Jew:

subframe connectors... not sure if these anemic ass 350 can even produce the power to twist this tin can... or spin both my 245 tires. but good time for this to happen.

transmission... suggestion is to do trans at this time. and for it to be a th400. but I would kinda like overdrive if swapping, so 700r4/200r4 would be a good choice. but if going LS any time soon after this might as well wait and put a 60/80e in it.... ?

swap/build.... at this point I should be all ready to put down power of a decent motor. build SBC. swap in LS. whatever. this is probably a while out. like next winter probably.

missing anything important? suggestions? I will probably work on interior along the way also.

Sounds solid. I would do it in a little different order. Sub frame, front clip, trans, then rear.

if im not touching the engine, then im not touching the trans.

i like to drive my cars, so OD trans i think is a must. plus i like short gears. so probably 373's. if/when LS gets swapped in ill probably do 60e (maybe 80e)... the slow ass motor i dont think its going to make a difference with 2 or 3 gears that still have a 1:1 high.

think ill move the subfame up though.

subframe connectors
front end
rear end
trans
engine/swap

So since your going auto and you drive it on the freeway to work and shit I would go with the 80e with some 3.55 gears and call it a day.

we will see. not sure what my time line looks like. first priority really is the front end. its the only thing really making my Nova not driveable.

as for the trans. i know the 80e is the obvious choice. but that would be going behind a LS, and thats not happening anytime soon. also the obvious choice for boost, also not in the cards soon. i am liking the idea of the 700/60e as it has less rotating mass, there for less power loss, big deal on a low HP motor that will be in my Nova probably for a while... aka probably no LS, and deff no boost.

i would like OD if im going to be putting around in her. but i might also just do nothing and roll around with the PG while i collect parts. if its a year, fine. if its 4, no, its getting a trans... we will have to see.
