I'm seriously contemplating using a magnetic drain plug, but it's not that much more work.  I mean whats another 30 minutes and a can of break clean when you already have 20+ hours in the project

Chris, I should start charging commission for all this free advertising  ;)

P4A

Bone should be proud

Steel shift forks

I had it apart once more to install the magnet.  Then got to do it again when I remembered the two dowells.  Now I'm freaking out cause I can't remember if I installed the interlock guide bolt.  It wasn't in my box of bolts for the transmission so I'm guessing I did

Oil drain hole lined up.  I'm planning on using the HY 35 and a full or mini-ram horn

JB Weld plus -10

Outside

Inside

Installed.  I'm using a -10 cap to plug the hole while I brake it in N/A.  This way I don't have to take the pan off and on again later down the road

Answer to every n00b's favorite question, "How do I get the TPS off?"

Final shot of the TB and spacer with gaskets installed

Intake mostly ready

Transmission and engine making love.  I'll post pictures later of the clutch flywheel and pp

Feeding the hatch some drivetrain

Got it installed with two mounts before it started raining.  No A/C means tons of room for a turbo

hx35 was 4300 on a LS, i don't think a d-series will do it any faster.

Just eyeballing the HY it looks to have a much smaller area (as in the A/R) for the turbine housing.  I think it will really help improve the spool.  I'll definatley report back once it's built.  I haven't seen too many HY 35 builds on here or the old fail of a site.

the HY35 is 9cm^2, so it should spool like a .63 A/R T3, maybe a tad bit slower..

it's a good turbo for daily driver. If this was more aggressive build i'd say sell it and get the HX35. I'm loving mine. spool is slow on a 1.6L but starts building at 5000 rpm and shoots up crazy fast.

I just cut one out of some gasket material I bought, then used sand paper to match it to the inside of everything.  It worked well and I drilled out the hole for whatever it is that sucks air.

I've got one, that's how I know the HY is smaller
http://www.realhomemadeturbo.com/forum/index.php?topic=527.0

And like I've said, I'll sacrafice some Peak HP for quicker spool since this will be a dual duty drag car and auto-crosser.  I think the HY will let me spool a little earlier and be able to flow 20+ psi

your pics are dead :(

the HX35 is about .82 exhaust, right?
I see about 2psi at 5000rpm.. I'm running a b16 with small cams and a sinktrap topmount using 3" for the J pipe so the slow spool is to be expected.

are you using freelog? you should upload a log file :)

I'll fix the HX vx HY pictures later.  I have no clue what the measurements are on either turbo.  I haven't opened them nor will either be installed for a bit.  The engine is in my car, just not wired up and running yet.  I will use free log and crome and will definatley post up stuff when the time comes.

nice write up with pics of the TB setup.

know anyone with a flow bench? I'm curious how the individual runners are affected by having the TB opening that much bigger and so close to the 1st runner.  Either way intake looks great man good job.

No I sure don't, and I'm worried too that it will increase air to that one cylinder and possibly run lean.  I can adjust that just for safety sake in crome and add like 5% to that cyl.

well it runs.  i've got some pictures to update but i'll try to do that later.  lsd motorsport's dragger clutch is pretty baller.  my first non stock clutch to drive on and lets just say, you can't slip it when you pull out like oem ones.  drove it for an hour around town, then about 50 miles on the highway to break it in, then went to an auto-x in danville, va this sunday.  car held together great, the lsd did it's job and kept the inside wheel from spinning on a nice turn around on the course.  so far i'm happy, i just have to rewire vtec and it should be good to go for some more n/a mayhem

It may be a while. I've got a lot of stuff on my plate right now.  FE exam and GMAT comming up, along with finals for 18 credit hours.  I'll be driving it here and there but it won't be my daily as I can't find the title for it to put it in my name...   It will be making more trailered strip and auto-x appearances that I can afford to attend

So basically, hopefully before June, but don't hold me to it

GMAT down, unofficial scores indicate 75th percentile

Drag strip this Friday after a Fundamentals of Controls test, that is, if it doens't rain like last week.  Still need to get VTEEEEEEEEEC wired up.  And I can't the the passenger side axle to fit iinto the diff all the way.  it gets stuck about the width of the axle seal away from fitting flush.  Anyway it just leaks a little when you park with that side low and I have a couple extra half-shafts that I'll have to try to see if that is the problem.  Might be that the P4A has a smaller hole than the stock EG axles I'm using.  Don't really care that much, it leaves two stripes just fine

Also put about another 200 miles on it on a round trip to purchase my new '96 GMC Suburban.  I'm planning on adding a tank, a few filters, a valve or two and a bunch of WVO and I can basically tow for free.

I'm taking a break so here's a few pictures

RHMT style solid mount, the rest will be matching soon, I just did this one up before I dropped in the motor cause it's the hardest to get to

Left room for the bolts

Flat black, FTW

LSD Motorsport's light weight flywheel

6 puck sprung dragger clutch and 300+ ft-lbs pressure plate

Green ain't my favorite color

The first fresh clutch I've installed on a Honda

And I've done about 4 of them total

Let me just say

It doesn't slip much at all.  Grabs like a freaking champ

That is all for now.  Boke an axle at the strip Friday night, but the OBX is still holding strong

I purchased that same TB, still havent installed it. Was going to buy a new intake mani first but maybe i'll just go and do it. I dont have a spacer though, whats the reason for the spacer?? And how do you control the idle? theres obiously no way the iacv will work without the ports there.

The hole in the spacer is for the iacv notice them in the pictures. There is an ungodly amount of these running around with no problems with the size hole in the spacer. Spacer is needed for oem Honda manifolds that dont have enough material in the plenum before you port into the iacv port. It is tapered and the iacv port is centered
