Well, finally got the input shaft stabbed all the way in. Note to self, transmission input shaft is easier to install when the transmission is in the park position and you spin the input shaft in a counterclockwise motion while rocking the whole shaft around and pushing down slightly. Tomorrow's plan is to install the new shift lever seal and then check the pump out and install that if it's good. Hope to have the valve body mods done and the trans completely back together by monday.

On another note, I sold the ls1 intake I picked up last week. I recipient ed it on tueaday. Picked up the intake, fuel rails, and cable throttle body for $128 shipped. Just sold it today for $335 shipped. After paypal fees and shipping cost, I made $182 on it. Which pays for my f body oilpan. It cost me $181. So now I have $1 left over to go buy a .99 cheese burger. :-)

How much power are you planning to make? If not much I think rebuilding and doing the correct upgrades to the 4L60E will be a lot cheaper unless you get a smoking deal on a 4L80E.

4l80's around my neck of the woods go for around 200-400 used. And they are pretty bulletproof in stock form. Just slap a tune at it and it will pretty much handle a fuck ton of power. 4l60 is just a door stop. Stock form they are week. And if you put some miles on them and have them in something heavy like a suv, they are even less likely to live.

On a side note, I think I'm gonna start flipping car parts. Just picked up another f body oil pan complete for stupid cheap. Gonna turn right around and flip it and make some cash.

4l60 lasted a lot longer than m9st. 170k, TONS of towing and 2 trips from NJ to Nc.

4l80 are going from 200-1000, I can't get a straight answer. 4l80 came out in 92- today. There seems to have been a major update around 06, so does that mean I basiclly can run any say 92-05?

You are probably going to have to get something close to the year of the vehicle you want to put it in as there were electrical differences between them over the years. You also need to look at length, etc. If your tahoe is 4wd, transfer case compatibility, drive shaft lengths, etc.

Well, I got most of the th400 back together. Nice and clean inside. Dual feed mod is done. Now it's time to mod up the valve body and slap that shit back together.

Here you can see I installed the dorman 555-003 7/16 cup plug.

Here I'm pointing to the spot that needs to be tapped with a 5/16 set screw. You can also see the cup/piston on the left. That is a shattered e/c clip inside there. I don't know how it never fell apart but it didnt. So it looks like I'll be hitting up the hardware store for one. After that I just need to do 2 more little tricks to the valve body and separator plate and slap it back together for good. It's amazing that all these mods for this th400 are pretty much free and it should be able to hold 700+ whp. Pretty pumped, so close to being done.

Well I went to pull the broken E clip out of the valve body, and I had to use a pair of channel locks to work the piston up. got it off and the piston out and the piston shaft is all galled up. So I spoke with @jakes performance about driving the old piston pin out and replacing it or if I would have to get a whole new valve body. He said since im plugging the feed to it and removing the spring for it that I should drive the old pin out and use a 1/4" bolt and just bolt it in place to keep it from moving and I will be 100% good to go. Man I love free mods and great advice!

Th400 is all back together and ready to rock and roll. Hopefully I did everything right. Now i just need to get a filter for it and slap the pan on. Then bolt it to the lq4, put it in the car to make sure the fbody pan clears everything and start mocking up turbo placement and plumbing

Ok, so I bolted the fbody pan up and dropped everything in to check clearances. All looks good so back out it came so I could pull the pan and tap the oil returns for the turbos. Here's where I'm at now.

All in and fitment looks good.

Empty once again but all the suspention up front is done.

About 3/16" of clearance between my set screw on the u joint and the frame mount

About 1/4" on the backside

Here is the pass side pan where I'm gonna tap it with a 1/2" npt and screw it down.

Here is the drivers side, I'm gonna put it right between the webbing.

And all done

Thanks

So next week's plans are,
1. Clean and paint crossmember
2. Install proportioning valve and run brake lines
3. Cut factory truck windage tray
4. Installed pan, pickup, and tray
5. Installed motor and trans for hopefully the last time

Well, I got the frame mounts cleaned and painted, and I figured since I had the paint out I would paint up my brake caliper brackets. And since I had my grinder out to clean up the crossmember I used it to also cut down my truck windage tray. I cut 4 3/16" off to make it the same as the f body.

Little bit of brake line work. All bent and flared. Just have to do one flare on the line that runs to the rear of the car and then slap the calipers on and bleed the system. If no leaks then I'll stuff the motor and trans in.

Well here we are........

Hard brake lines are all done and connected. Inner fenders showed up today. I have bought and returned 3 different rotors, and 2 different brake calipers. Trying to figure out what I needed. Got tired of fucking around and after all this fuckerey I ordered a set of 11" rotors that are 5×4 3/4 from speedway. So once they show up, I hope my junkyard calipers that I picked up a couple of months ago fit. I guess ill figure all this shit out once the rotors show up.

New rotors showed up. Turns out after all my research it looks like they are ford granada rotors with Chevy bolt patter cast into them with the Chevy 7/16 studs too. They were $39.99 each and another $60 for shipping, but if I spent $100 it was free shipping. So I bought another bearing and seal set. Which brought it to a grand total of $107 shipped. If I can reuse my bearings and seal that are in my chevelle rotors I will. And then I will just have a extra set of them sitting on the shelf if I ever need them.

We're getting ready to sell our house so I'm packing up boxes this weekend to move into storage but hopefully in the next few days I can sneak out to the garage and slam these on and bleed my brakes.

So, new rotors fit perfect. Went to bolt on some rubber lines from a 81 camaro and they fit great besides I had to move my hardlines because when the tire was at full crank it would hit them. So I recently and today I put the pads in. Went to go blead the brakes and the drivers side brakelines is leaking at the caliper. Probably has a old washer or something stuck to it that I didn't see. Gonna pull it tomorrow and try to bleed it and get it back together. Probably won't happen until the weekend though. Once the brakes are all done, the motor is getting put back in and then fit my inner fenders and all that.

Fuck it, I would run it as it. If it slips then pick up a rebuild for it. Otherwise look up the dual feed mod. Jake's performance has a great write up on it. That's what I did. Just got a $30 gasket set from ebay and called it a day.

On another note. Photo bucket is being gay and not uploading pics. But the brakes are in. No leaks and blead enough to see that there isn't fluid all over the floor. Motor is back in and now it time to test fit the inner fenders.
