See, the subaru blocks, ALL, except the LEGENDAERY 2.2 closed deck and custom whatever sleved, are all weak.

I could do the 2.2 closed deck block, but I just don't want to.

eh, got to go....

Story later.

Just saw this : http://www.dragsport.com/issue/2010/0810_cover_story.shtml

Thought you might want to call the guys who built this if they are experiencing the same issue with their. And what they are doing to avoid breaking theirs.  ;D

Your epic failure of open deck 2.5 blocks and gearsets has convinced me to do another cheap subaru build haha ;) Subaru shits so cheap down here, picked up a jdm 4.4 Gearbox, plate LSD rear 4.4 diff and shafts to suit all for 350NZ (about 175$ US)  :P

Hey just wondering if the decapping on the early red sidefeed legacy injectors is the same as the top feed WRX's? I was worried that because they are micro welded ontop instead of on the side, that the cap holds the pintle and injector togeather? Also what cc' did you find the flow at after the decap?

Weather: Clear
Tires: Toyo Proxes 4 205/55/16

Car: 1990 Legacy Wagon
Tuner: Doug Vincent and Bobby W @ PRE
Dyno Info: Dyno Dynamics PRE Racing
Peak HP at RPM: 392 at 6500 rpm 17 psi  423 @6000 rpm 23 psi
Peak Torque at RPM: 375 at 5000 rpm 17psi 429 @ 5250 rpm 23 psi
Target Boost: 17 and 23
Fuel: e85
Engine/Power Modifications: 2.5 2002 RS block, 99.5 mm CP pistons, STI rods, 1997 EJ20 twin turbo heads, 800 CC injectors, 5th injector 800 cc (barely needed), Vortech FMU 3-1, Ebay T3/T4 turbo. Borla NA header, custom up and downpipe, 3" exhaust

Drivetrain Mods - dual diaphram pressure plate, 6 puck, 1997 STI gearset in NA case.

Tuned for daily driving 17psi and "race" 23 psi.  GRAPH RPM IS OFF BY ABOUT 400rpm (low)!

The 17psi map has been tweaked a little more so probably close to 400 torque, but not on the graph.  Dip in the boost probably due to fluke, wasnt doing that other runs.

Then I turned up the boost to 23 but it obviously would not hold and tapered to 20.  Had been on dyno for about two hours so I called it good for now.

Wastegate has been blowing open, explains the funky boost curves....

That said, I ran 12.44 and 12.45 Saturday night, and shoulda coulda woulda a 12.2-12.3 on Sunday at Woodburn but had to stomp of the brakes to keep from breaking out (bracket racing) and still did a 12.51 @ 101mph....

"Fixed" the wastegate with a helper spring, but won't know if that is going to work till this weekend at the track again....

IF the wastegate holds now, 500whp is not out of the question, 25plus psi in 3rd has happened already.....  Tranny would be in question at that point....

Split another cylinder wall! (unless I had epic head gasket failure......)

150' before the finish line......

12.387 @ 116.5 with a 2.004 60' time......

well, tranny needed to be rebuilt anyway....

I'm not familiar with subies, but do they have sleeves?

I'm wondering if you could devcon one or something to maybe help prevent splitting the walls.

Some sort of devil will live on....

Cracking the block down soon to reuse the crank/rods/pistons and maybe even bearings if they are in good shape....  Gonna have to rebuild this one on a serious budget right now....
