But it won't rust completely apart. It's just the ugliest form of protective oxide on common metals.

409 is okay when it won't get very hot, and you intend to wrap it up.

im comfortable with a 7 ill rarely use a 5

If you're gonna do exterior sheet metal, learn to metal finish, otherwise you'll have a quaterpanel that's a warped pile of shit. Hammer and dolly the weld-shrink. Practice on some junk first....

buk, quit trying to make things, those welds look like dick.

sit down and weld sample coupons for hours, bead after bead until you can get a weld that doesn't look like you had your eye's closed while doing it.

Serious, your doing the same thing everyone that is self taught did, you trying to jump into things to far when you barely have a grasp on the concept of welding.
