looks like you don't use Chevron with techron gas, it's supposed to clean deposits from your engine.
looks like normal to me, what exactly are we looking for?

Honda valves bend so fucking easy, pistons could look mint and you could have 16 bent valves. You really need to get your hands on a leak down tester.

What makes you think you have piston to valve contact?
What size is that cam you have in, didn't think the non vtec motors were interference motors

I would guess the timing belt skipping is more of his concern for bent valves.

and last I heard the non vtak motors didn't have piston to valve clearance issues.
I know he has cams in the motor, but I don't know if they would cause clearance issues

Usually when the head stalls out from momentum its not at full lift on the lobe, so when its all said and done the bottom end can still rotate without bending anything.  On engines with pinner dick cams like Y7's and F22A/B etc...

I've had ls motors come out fine, and I have a pile of bent valves from others

Leak down test like mike was explaining in the beach house. I know you said you don't have compressed air, do you have a comp tester? This is rhmt, make an adaptor from a schrader valve to the hose on your comp tester, go to sheetz or somewhere they have a free tire pump and do that shit?
Don't know if it would work but I've done weirder shit.

looks like im picking up another head for 40bucks from a buddy. so im gonna rip this head off, pull the valvesprings out and swap them into the new head and throw it on... but heagaskets locally are felpro and about $64 vs Mizumo/evergreen gasket that is $19shipped but will take 2-3 days...  :-\  thinking about reusing it, but not sure i wanna do that when putting a different head back on.

still undecided. i either put the belt on wrong (even after doing tons of them right with no issue?.) or there is something hokey with the tensioner. i havent even bothered to pull it apart. think ill tear into it before dinner tomorrow.

btw. leaning towards the tensioner. not so much for my ego. but as i swear it had good tension before startup, then seeming magically just turned to shit and had tons of slack....

reminds me of the first time I attempted to remove the bitch pin in the shift linkage during an engine swap.
Used a phillips screwdriver. fucker got stuck so I had to pull the engine out with the linkage still attached. Never did get the screwdriver out of the bitch pin
