130° ain't that bad. I've seen much worse. Heat wrap your shit up. Other than that if you let it heat soak and them start driving after a few what's your temps?
looks like at 133* crome pulls 3* of timing... makes it a bitch to start..... well i assume thats why its being a bitch to start... like a couple times it REFUSED TO START... like im seriously surprised it started before i killed the battery cranking.
just took it for a drive and its 65* or so outside right now... temps into the 120 range, seem to go down to mid/high 90s. drove it 5miles or so down the road and back... 45mph or so in 5th gear. couple little tip in's.
when i turned around i jumped out real quick and grabbed the charge pipe, and it was cool to the touch. but still showing 95* or so on crome.
btw. coolant temps will drop all the way to the thermostat at 174* or so. it doesnt seem to have a problem doing that at all.
but come back, let it idle for a couple mins, and the fan is coming on at 195, and IAT's are on the climb to 120+
crome shows the timing retard for IAT's to be at 100* F...
radiator seems to be working fine, fans working fine (one is noisy as shit tho), intercooler seems to be working ok... swapped IAT's so i assume that is working.
so... idk, am i over thinking this? even if that is true, im not imagining this hard start issue thats for damn sure. fucker gets harder to start the hotter it is.
downpipe is header wrapped till it starts to go under the pan... i am short on clearance on the hot side pipe, but would like to wrap that. no real way to wrap the manifold? and i dont think wrapping the upper pipe is gonna do much? maybe. but i dont think so.
i installed an air filter... and i made a little shield that blocks it from the radiator fan, open on the engine/trans side of things.... that was installed on the test drive above. see how that works out in the long run...
