well sometimes I have no money. sometimes I have a lot. lol. granted I sold a bunch of shit. but sometimes my commission checks are low and I don't buy shit. sometimes I have extra 300bucks.  :Jew:  looks like I'm having a good month, plus I don't have kids so Christmas is usually cheap.  :Jew:

so should I pull the 50yo fuse box and most the wiring for a new fuse box like this

I'm going to leave my stock fuse box alone. Let it do what it needs to do and add on my own shit. I'm gonna build a whole separate fuse/relay panel.

so I had to throw in a special order/request. so my subframe looks like it will be a couple weeks out. oh well. its cold, and I'm a lazy procrastinator. I have to work a weekend coming up... so plan is to maybe tear into her the weekend before Christmas, then I'll have long weekends on Christmas and new years to get her mostly together.

I might even be able to afford most all the parts I need (for suspension) before the end of the year...maybe lol.

so update:

subframe - i asked for motor mounts to be welded on, they are waiting for new mounts or materials or someshit. told them i needed this before christmas.

steering rack hardware - tracking showed USPS label created on 11.24.... now after starting claim with ebay, it has left IA and is on its way to me. retarded part is that i ordered other shit from them too? they didnt just throw it in the box with the rest of it...

my steering column bearing (explain later) - shows shipping and leaving KY, and hasnt been seen since 11.25.... fuck.

im busy/lazy/etc for the next couple weeks. but the plan is to maybe get some light work done before christmas weekend, then tear into her real good over the long weekend, and over new years weekend also. maybe buy the rest of my parts if the Galant doesnt drain me first...

had to set it up, gonna dry test fit everything. the paint it all black, and the suspension shit that isn't black already.

failed to take pics of the suspension...and its all sitting 2 feet to the left of the subframe lol. but its pretty much all the same shit as AJ bought. I have drop spindles and going to be using power steering rack.

oh yeah, still need to figure out brakes too. i plan on using the dual piston Camaro shit i have. and by plan, i mean i have to use this shit. spent $90 on brake pads plus machining the hubs and JY rotors/calipers...

oh, mine still runs  :P  in fact probably fire it off today or tomorrow to turn it around in the garage. going to stage it so its pointing out of the garage, so when i pull the front clip off ill just throw it in the back of the truck and scrap it, and also plenty of room for the engine/trans to just roll out into driveway before figuring out where to hide it in the garage. or just push it all outside into driveway to work on nova in the garage clutter free.

oh yeah. so i have been tinkering around and test fitting shit. and the rack has some major clearance issues with the motor mount stand. i have been in contact with Lakeshore and he is going to be sending me new rack mounts out monday  ;DDD  i have been thinking about this like nonstop, and it looks like they are just the wrong mounts, they are suppose to have more of an angle on them. was thinking of just cutting them off and trying to put more of an angle on them and reweld, but me and angles dont work out so well lol. sure Kevin's solution will be much cleaner.

also need to trim down the lower control arm mount just like AJ had to. no big deal.

Galant issue, above setback, and me fighting off a cold are slowing me down slightly. but really didnt expect to have her on the ground by the end of the year. just to have most the parts. she does however need to be rolling for spring...

They seem like good people to work with. Went well when I ordered mine. Now I'm just bummed that my rack and pinion mounts are the same. Which means if I ever decide to go with power steering I will run into the same problems. But I don't mind manual steering. I kinda prefer it.

no. you where right the first time when you said i should have made my own mounts.

from all i could find it seems that the manual racks, "tbird"/fox power racks (lots of cars actually), and the V-something SN95 racks are all pretty much interchangeable. other than some being 15" mount and 16.5". but thats why most all "MII" crossmembers have slotted holes, and you can also buy offset bushings.

i found plenty of posts from fox body guys running SN95 racks. none mentioned the angles being different or the shafts even being longer? they just remove the factory rag joint shit.


that being said, probably should have used a SN95 rack. but i bought a fresh reman from auto parts store as it was about $85 and in stock. so if/when i need a new one, i can just walk in and get a replacement (lifetime warranty) and not have to go to the JY to pull another used one.

not much of my front end is going to be not new and fresh looking. rest of the car is going to be weathered and beat lol.

absolutely no progress, not even fake progress... actually i thought about aspects of my build, oh and i did hear back from Lakeshore and i have new rack mounts coming. also picked up some PS lines, cuz thats important at the moment.


went to buddies place to grab galant shit and BS... i need to stop doing that lol... he once again pointed out that the SBC turbo manifolds are still sitting there. then i said something about a 67mm, and he was like, "wait i have one...$400 and its yours...i seen big T4 housings on ebay for 99bucks..." also has a bnib AEM meth/water kit... but wanted like 350 for that or something.
its a Garrett T67...kinda want it. work great for a 4.8l and fine on a 5.3l for the power i want... and its not china junk, with miss represented turbo measurements.

maybe just me thinking semi-outloud... or maybe me buying this shit next week...

honestly im in no hurry to build/take the nova apart. i HAD the cash already to do as you suggest, and i guess i did exactly that...well not the nova part LOL. i to have a running driving 5.3 swap tho.  :P 

really i dont feel right or feel like doing that for a couple reasons. as much as i dont like the fact that i had 6k worth of Integra cashed out (actually more), i dont like have 10k of Galant. i feel just as or even more sick turning around and spending 6-10k on a car that i already own to modify it... yeah probably stupid cuz i will even admit im sure to spend that, maybe more on the nova eventually.
then there is the im sure obvious to at least AJ that if i did a single 5k+ drop on this car, it would probably be "done" at that point, and i would get bored and try to sell it (for 3k of the 10 in it) quickly there after.

am i wrong?

done spending money on galant either way. im sure the clutch will ghost out next summer then sit all winter, till i find the care to spend money on it again.

new rack mounts on a jig. and my PS lines.




garage cleaned up, mostly organized, and nova turned around. i have a couple feet between bumper and door.

plan is to open garage door to pull swap, and just roll it into driveway out of the way. then side it to the side of the car out of the way. if i need more room i can just roll shit out in driveway to piss off landlord. lol. plus i can just pull stock clip off and throw it directly into the back of the truck to throw away.

the engine there is the 4g63 out the galant, its sold.

nope. might be a good idea though. i have a plan when its not angled enough. im just going to use the jig, tack the top, then bend to the angle i need, fill weld. it will be gangsta.  O0
