After playing around in crome for an hour, the car idles fine with the 880.  A little rich once the car warms up but 13 afr isn't horrible.  The problems I'm having I think can be attributed to the lack of preset injector battery offsets in the latest version of Crome.  I'm having to guess and test and right now I've got it idling decent with a 60 off set in the Fuel Table.

Does anyone know where I can find a fairly accurate offset value for the Precision 880s?  Should I find an older version of Crome and use those?  I'm a noob when it comes to tuning.

I had to use 65 for an offset on mine for 788cc Delphi injectors. ;D
I use Crome 1.5.3
I have cranking offset at 0.600

One day I'd love to take apart the case on the PLX and some how make the lcd display fit into where the stock clock is, or should be, CX doesn't have that luxury item

here is my m300 in my crx

I tried 65 before and it was a bit on the rich side at idle.  Cranking is 0.35 and I might bring that up a bit.  The only true cold start took a little while for it to kick over.

BTW I'm also using 1.5.3, it's the latest and greatest free version, I do believe.

ratcityrex, that's exactly what I'm talking about, except with the EG chassis, the clock is a bit higher and more toward a driver's view out the window.  For now, it's cool chilling where the radio went with the cheap-o boost gauge.

1.5.5 beta is out

Shows how much I know about tooning

Car runs and is drivable.  I blew a coupler off the IC first pull.  I've been messing with the tip in and I can't get the car to not stumble for a second as soon as you slap the gas.  You ease the gas down, it does fine.  Any suggestions with what values I should have for the tip in and addt. tip in?

Also, what plugs would you run with this setup.  NGK R5671A-7, #4091 sound like a winner?

are you watching it with a wideband?  is your injector latency too low causing delay with the tipin?

Yes.  I've been trying to use FreeLog to datalog with.  I'm getting proper readings, it's just I don't see any boost values on the tables for FreeLog.  I'm not sure how to adjust the injector latency in Crome.  I'll have to do some more research on that.

I think 1.5.5 is for the use of the Demon. I tried to DL and use it but I can not get it to work.

OK

So now that I have some free time today, and the strip is open this evening, I'd like to get my car where I could at least make a few passes.  The problem I'm having is that I can't get FreeLog to work worth a damn in boost.  I can log and see everything like I should, I just add the extra columns in the MAP Scalar tab and the shit never makes it past atmospheric when I'm logging even though my boost gauge says I'm making boost.  I am using a Freescale 3bar in the stock casing.  I think the reason I can't get FreeLog to do shit is cause I'm going to have to change the equation for the MAP scalars in FreeLog.  I just don't know where that shit would be at on the program.  Help is much appreciated

Re: 350 or Bust - Love me some D: minor setback, big mess
« Reply #128 on: October 28, 2009, 05:32:18 PM »

So I had some free time today to mess with the tune, jump in it, let it idle to get to temp and then go do a 3rd gear pull on the low side of vtec to get afrs dialed in.  Right now I'm just using the rpm and afr readings in freelog and then make adjustments in Crome and repeat.  So first solid pull I get to about 6k and ALL SMOKEY HELL breaks loose.  First thought, I just blew the seals in the snail, even though I have a pop rivet as a restrictor.   So I make the turn that goes back down the hill to my house.  On the way, the oil light flickers a bit so I kill it and coast the rest of the way.  Get out and find this:

The damn oil feed line came off the fitting and rust proofed the ENTIRE engine bay.  That oil has less than 200 miles on it.  I'm pissed.  However, I messed up the oil pan gasket when I built the motor and it leaked some previously, so I guess now is as good a time as ever to go ahead and fix that seeing how there isn't hardly any oil left in the engine.  Too bad they don't sell brake clean in gallon jugs.  The good news, I have a solid mid to low 13 afr from 2k to 6k on the low side.  Gotta clean up the mess and then jump on the high side.

BUMP for getting a tune next week.

the grand wizzard of the interwebz gets the honors

I've been taking care of a bunch of little shit to get it ready for the trip to Asheville and back.  Pulled the oil pan, installed new gasket, fixed the small leak on the drain of the turbo (shitty gasket again), Fixed the oil feed line to the turbo so it hopefully won't come apart again, got something rigged up for the PCV that should get me there and back, finished an exhaust with a glasspack muffler so it exits at the rear of the vehicle instead of just behind the firewall, installed a 25 psi boost gauge (hoping to use most of that), and I still need to swap out an axle after a cv joint boot exploded a while back.  I ordered a camshaft with 3 day shipping from crower this past weekend, and it still hasn't got here.  If that gets here in time, I'll throw it in.

It did.  Thought of several bad things right of the bat, but once the low oil pressure light came on while making the trip back to the crib, I knew what happened.

Car is running great since I 'fixed' all the small stuff.  Shit makes 8ish psi with the waste gate arm unhooked from the flapper, on low side of the cam only.  Can't wait to see what JD can do with it!

Nope, just oily.

Got the stock cam out, new springs swapped in and the new cam goes in today when I get some free time.  I'm such a dumb ass sometimes.  I spent 5 minutes trying to figure out why the crank wouldn't turn past a certian point.  I was thinking there was no way that the valve springs could hold that much force to keep the crank from spinning.  Then I took it out of gear and it was easy...

Well JD is awesome, my mechanic work, not so much.  Seems that the clutch wasn't holding once we started to make a few higher boost runs.  It's all brand new stuff, with like 1600 miles so the conclusion we came to was that oil must have gotten on the clutch from when I was swapping out the cam and springs.  Dissapointing for sure, but that's how it goes with cars.  I'm going to try to get the transmission out this weekend and clean everything up good on the clutch/pp/flywheel and reinstall everything then we will see what happens from there.  Also going to try to adapt the HY-35's integral waste gate setup to something that I can swap out lower boost cans for.  JD wasn't really excited about trying to tune 20 psi all at once, lol.  I didn't know any better but now I do.  Learned alot, and hopefully will get everything sorted out in due time!

We are supposed to get up to 12 inches of the wite stuff this weekend, so I have some work to do to get the car in my garage where I can work on it.  The good news is that it is WAY more drivable now that someone who knew what the heck they were doing was tuning the car.  I won't have to trailor it again to get it anywhere, which is a BIG plus.

Higher boost = 5 psi.  It was really saddening.  18+ psi actuator makes for a scary street tune experience, but the car wanted to move.  :/

For an 8.5:1 SOHC, it fucking ripped at 3000 rpms before the turbo began to spool (positive pressure at 3500, crackrocks and clutchspin at 4000).  I knew I loved that cam for a reason, but the only time I got to drive Blossfield's car with that cam on the street it had a GT28RS so it just made boost all the time.

Beware, on crower's website, it is listed as a 'stage 2' even though the nomenclature points to 1.
