Rawr's thread inspired me to tackle my own engine and tranny mounts , this is the rear tranny mount from an EG..

and yes, those are Hockey Pucks.  $1.23 Ea.

Don't need a press either.

Saws all
2 Hockey Pucks
Torch
Drill
Rivets
WD-40

Cut out the center

Cheap ass hockey puck (vulcanized hardass rubber)

Cut a bit off the bottom of the hockey puck

Take the old chunk with the steel insert.. heat the fuck out of the insert and push it put

Drill a big ass hole for the steel insert

Done

1 Hockey puck per side , I just pressed it in with the vice and some WD40, they were in there tight as hell , but for added security I drilled a few small holes in the top on each side and put rivets in them...

and thats my cheap ass GRM motor mount...

I like that I may have to try that eventhough my window weld urethane filled are holding up pretty good so far. ;D

I'll give it a try. At least you don't need to wait for the urethane to dry out.

A friend of mine just did this weeks ago, loves it. Best part is he got the hockey pucks for free from a friend who had ~20 left in his car when he bought it, so his entire cost was $0

I just did my engine mount for my evo 2. Perfect size with no cutting required  :noel:. My pucks were 4$ each. Thanks for a great write up!

I need a torch

I found it was quicker to use a flat blade screw driver and a hammer to chissil it out, then use the torch to burn whats left. I still managed to set the workshop smoke detector off lol.

I would want to use a little polyurethane in there with the hockey pucks to glue them in/together.  It would serve as your lubrication to slide the pucks in there too, and dry up solid as FUCK.
